Thanks to all who helped to celebrate the
23rd Annual Madison County Hop Fest on September 14-16, 2018!
We are so glad that many came out to Hop Fest. There are many Hop Fests out there, but this is the only event that can proudly say that it celebrates over 200 years of hop heritage that began right here in Madison County.
It was right here in Madison County that James Coolidge from New England planted the 1st commercial hop yard on acres of farmland in Bouckville.
It was right here in Madison County where James Coolidge was the first person to transport hops to the New York City market in 1816. Thus establishing a commercial agricultural connection between the hop fields of CNY and the agricultural commodity marketplace. Many Madison County farmers turned their fields over into commercial hop yards. Following in suit were neighboring counties- Montgomery, Schohaire, Chenango, Otsego, Herkimer and Oneida.
So it is right here in Madison County that we can proudly claim that this is where New York State’s Proud Hop Heritage began.
It is also right here in Madison County that we have been proudly celebrating hops for 23 years! The hop industry has made a comeback with the expanding craft beer industry and hop farming that is taking off in the region. We hope you all have enjoyed what we have to offer about Hop Culture in NYS from our featured speakers, our hop exhibit, our exhibitors, our food and beer pairings and of course the sampling of the mighty hop in the variety of craft beers offered.
Many thanks to our sponsors- The Gorman Foundation, White's Farm Supply, Inc., Community Bank, N.A., Liberty Tabletop, Oneida Dental Group, Oneida Daily Dispatch, and Assemblyman Bill Magee for their continued support of the Fest!
See you all next year for the 24th
Annual Madison County Hop Fest
September 13-15, 2019!
Thank you again to each and every one of you for coming out to celebrate hops with us!
